Topic 5: School and Work

How might being aware of your implicit expectations and the attributions you make for your students' behaviour/explanations help you be a better teacher?

Being self-aware of ones expectations and attributions is one of the most important aspects of change and understanding. Thus, being aware of ones expectations towards your students behaviour/explanations would allow you to be a more well round and understanding teacher. When I say this I mean, that if your expectations are not on par with your students behaviours and explanations then it may allow you to change them to allow a more cohesive learning environment. As stated in "Strategies to Create an Inclusive Classroom", a teacher has tp get to know themselves and be aware of how they have been culturally constructed and the implications of this has for classroom practices, be aware of your basic assumptions about learning and teaching. By doing this a teacher will be able to create a more productive and inclusive classroom.
